How much is €60,000 after tax in Ireland?
On a €60,000 salary in Ireland a single employee keeps about €44,925 a year, or €3,744 a month. That is 75% of gross pay. Three deductions come off your salary: income tax, the Universal Social Charge (USC) and PRSI.
The breakdown
| Deduction | Per year | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| Income tax (after tax credits) | €11,200 | €933 |
| Universal Social Charge | €1,333 | €111 |
| PRSI (4.2375% average for 2026) | €2,543 | €212 |
| Net pay | €44,925 | €3,744 |
How Irish income tax works
Ireland has two rates: 20% on income up to the standard rate band (€44,000 for a single person in 2026) and 40% on the rest. You then subtract tax credits: €2,000 personal credit and €2,000 employee (PAYE) credit for a single employee.
On €60,000: 20% of €44,000 is €8,800, 40% of €16,000 is €6,400, so €15,200 in total. Minus €4,000 of credits leaves €11,200.
USC and PRSI
- USC applies if your income is above €13,000. The rates are 0.5% on the first €12,012, 2% up to €28,700, 3% up to €70,044 and 8% above that.
- PRSI is social insurance and pays for the state pension and benefits. The employee rate was 4.2% until 30 September 2026 and 4.35% from 1 October 2026, so the 2026 figure here is a blend across the year. It applies to all your income once you earn more than €352 a week.
Net pay at other salaries
| Gross per year | Net per year | Net per month | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| €40,000 | €33,572 | €2,798 | 84% |
| €60,000 | €44,925 | €3,744 | 75% |
| €80,000 | €54,979 | €4,582 | 69% |
Single employee, standard credits only, 2026 rules. You hit the 40% rate quickly, from €44,000, which is why the share you keep falls fast.
What changes your net pay
- Marriage or civil partnership. Couples can be jointly assessed. With one earner on €60,000, the band rises to €53,000 and the personal credit doubles, so net pay rises to about €4,060 a month. With two earners the band can go up to €88,000.
- Rent Tax Credit. Renters can claim up to €1,000 a year (€2,000 for a couple) through Revenue's myAccount.
- Pension contributions through your employer reduce income tax (not USC or PRSI) at your highest rate.
- Emergency tax. If your employer has no tax details for you yet, you pay emergency tax at 40% without credits. Register your job on myAccount as soon as you start, and the overpaid tax is refunded through payroll.
